Scope of Work: Troop Contracting completed the structural life safety repairs to a heavy timber bridge at a condominium subdivision in Willowbrook, IL. The project consisted of demo and replacement of existing heavy timber framing. Additionally, the existing column supports were temporarily shored and cut 4" above the existing steel base plate to allow galvanized steel shims to be installed then welded together. The new detail will prevent further wood rotting to the columns at the base. After the new heavy timber framing members were installed and the new column support detail was in place, new decking was installed. Finally, the bridge structure was stained to matched the existing. Troop performed the majority of the work from a custom‐built platorm raft with safety rails, which allowed work to be conducted safely under the bridge as well as easy transport of materials. The custom logistics and material conveyance saved considerable to the schedule without compromising safety versus alternative means. Value: $121,000 Architect reference available upon request. |
