Scope of Work: While working in an occupied and operating hospital, Troop Contracting performed heavy interior demolition of a decommissioned reinforced concrete pool and adjacent rooms. Demolition also included asbestos abatement. New construction included structural steel framing, concrete slab, and comprehensive interior buildout for a new main elec- trical switchgear room and control room to update and modernize the Radiology Department’s electrical needs. The scope also included new HVAC equipment, LED lighting, relocating the medical alert panel, cabinetry and finishes. As the Prime Contractor, Troop self- performed carpentry, full time onsite supervision, quality control, safety, and project management. Troop set up and maintained infection control measures, HEPA-filtered negative air containment and temporary partition walls. During the project there became several noise and vibration issues from the heavy demolition activities. Troop was able to adjust the demo schedule to off-hours at no cost to the owner. Unforeseen issues encountered on the project included finding unanticipated sanitary sewer lines. Troop worked closely with the government to provide a quick and cost effective solution while keeping the project on original schedule. Original Contract: $535,000 Final Contract: $708,791 Original Completion: 06/26/2017 Final Completion: 06/26/2017 Self‐Performance Work: 30%
Architect reference available upon request. Footnotes: 1. Redesign was required, per CO’s CPARS comments: “unforeseen issues which included finding sanitary sewer lines during demo.” 2. A cost modification was issued to account for the unforeseen issues arising from demolition. However, the project remained on the original schedule. |
