Scope of Work: Completed 6 months ahead of schedule; $200,000 Under Budget “Building a Ship in a Bottle” - Chicago Tribune article (January 2025) -”the expansion was beyond worthwhile, as Studio GC and Troop Contracting as great partners.” - School Principal Troop Contracting is pleased to present the Stagg High School Expansion project, an endeavor that has redefined the educational landscape by maximizing underutilized courtyard spaces and introducing new learning environments. This project unfolded in two major phases, resulting in a comprehensive transformation of the school courtyard spaces. Phase 1: South Courtyard Building Addition (06/2023-07/2024): The first phase encompasses the construction of a 13,100 sq. . two-story addition. This addition houses essential education spaces such as: 7 new classrooms, 2 science Labs, a greenhouse and roof garden, corridor links, and 2 stair towers. Operational Continuity & Adaptive Solutions: Meticulous planning ensured the school remained operational, providing an uninterrupted learning environment for students and staff. Access to the South Courtyard was obstructed by an exiting corridor, that Troop Contracting cleverly developed a plan to allow the corridor to remain in place, but allowed a major addition to be built just beyond. Phase 2: North Courtyard Building Addition (06/2024-07/2025) In the second phase, the focus shifted toward enhancing the existing High School by constructing a 13,344 sq ft. two-story addition. The complete building addition included new education spaces such as: 5 classrooms, 2 science labs, science prep room, large 20 person conference room, 7 offices, 2 meeting rooms, grand stair case, and corridor links. This project stands as a testament to our dedication to creating transformative spaces that align with the evolving needs of educational institutions.
