NASA Fixed Base Simulator Relocation; Johnson Space Center (JSC), Houston, TX; 2012

Scope of Work: The Adler Planetarium hired Troop to provide all logistical planning and execution as well as onsite supervision for the relocation of NASA’s Fixed Base Shuttle Flight Simulator (plus associated equipment) from JSC to Chicago.  The Fixed Base Simulator trained every Shuttle Astronaut from the onset of the program in 1981.  The Adler Planetarium received this valuable artifact with the decommissioning of the Shuttle Program in 2012.

Troop performed the following:

  • Created all pre-mobilization work plans, to include schedule, safety, work flow, means/methods, and execution operating procedures (approved by NASA)
  • Diligently researched and selected local crating vendor and trucking company
  • Remotely coordinated all pre-mobilization activities with NASA, local vendors, and NASA provided riggers/operators
  • Research and selected Chicago-area storage facility
  • Onsite Supervision during crating and loading
  • Supervised the off-loading at the local storage facility
